ABC’s new drama ‘The Baker and The Beauty’ premieres this Monday and we can’t wait! Belissa Escobedo plays main character Daniel’s (Victor Rasuk) younger sister. Here’s everything you need to know about the actress behind your new favorite character:
1. This is her first larger role on television. Before ‘The Baker and The Beauty,’ Escobedo has only had minor roles or has appeared as herself.
2. She went viral at only 16 for her poetry. ‘The Poet Puff Girls’ got their first viral video in 2014 with “Somewhere in America” for the Brave New Voices competition. The video has over 4 million views.
3. Due to going viral she, along with fellow poets Rhiannon McGavin and Zariya Allen, have performed at the Hollywood Bowl alongside John Legend and The Queen Latifah Show. The performance on The Queen Latifah Show has over 7 million views.
4. She has appeared on stage. Escobedo has taken the stage for two productions; The Bad Seed by the Last Orchard Theatre Company and Othello by LACHSA.
5. She was discovered through the ABC Discovers Showcase in 2018. Here she also met Eli Gonda, who cast her for his new film ‘Sid is Dead’.
