Big Little Lies’ Shailene Woodley has just wrapped her latest film, The Last Letter from Your Lover, and we’ve got details on the project for you below. Keep reading to see who is starring alongside Shailene, as well as the sweet comment one of her The Secret Life of the American Teenager co-stars left on her Instagram photo.
WHAT’S SHAILENE’S NEW FILM ABOUT? WHO ELSE STARS IN THE LAST LETTER FROM YOUR LOVER?
Shailene’s new movie, The Last Letter from Your Lover, follows the love story between Shailene’s character Jennifer, and Callum Turner’s character, Anothony. A journalist named Ellie (portrayed by Felicity Jones) finds the love letters, and makes it her mission to track down the real-life couple.
The film is based off the best-selling novel by JoJo Moyes, who wrote Me Before You, which was also turned into a movie in 2016.
Joe Alwyn (who’s dating Taylor Swift) stars as Laurence in the film; Nabhaan Rizwan and Ncuti Gatwa round out the principle cast. It was originally set to be filmed in Spain, but production moved to the UK in mid-October, and filming wrapped after 45 days on December 15.

Shailene served as an executive producer on the film, and is so excited for what she’s helped create. The movie, directed by Augustine Frizzell, is classified as a romantic drama and will be told as a dual-narrative.
On her most recent Instagram post, Shailene received all sorts of sweet comments, but one in particular caught our eye, as it was from her former Secret Life co-star, Molly Ringwald. Molly portrayed Shailene’s TV-mom for the 5-year run of The Secret Life of the American Teenager; though current TV viewers may have seen Molly as Archie’s mom recently on Riverdale. While there’s no official release date for the film as of yet, we do know it will be distributed by Netflix in the US and Canada; StudioCanal will distribute it in all other countries/territories. We can’t wait to see it!
