2020 has been a crazy year, and everyone’s looking forward to 2021. ABC is more than ready to ring in the new year with their annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special starring Ryan Seacrest. The former American Idol host will be the main correspondent throughout the event once again, marking his 16th year. Who else is hosting the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve event? And from where?
In addition to Ryan Seacrest, actress Lucy Hale and actor Billy Porter will assist in hosting the festivities from New York City’s Times Square. Lucy posted a throwback to her Instagram page in honor of hosting again, which you can see below:
R&B singer Ciara will host the New Year’s event in Los Angeles, California; Rap star Big Freedia will host the New Orleans part of the event, according to ABC’s official press release.
Country star Jessie James Decker will return for her second year as the Powerball correspondent. She’ll check in throughout the evening before announcing the millionaire lottery winner at just after midnight.
Who is performing this year?
Jennifer Lopez will be headlining the Times Square show. She shared on Twitter that she’ll be singing her newest single, “In the Morning” for the first time.

Other performers for NYC include: Billy Porter, Machine Gun Kelly, Jimmie Allen, and Cyndi Lauper.
In LA, the performers include: Brandy, Doja Cat, Ella Mai, Miley Cyrus, Lewis Capaldi, Maluma, Nelly, Saweetie, and Megan Thee Stallion. It was announced on Tuesday that Julia Michaels and JP Saxe, as well as En Vogue Music will be performing in Los Angeles too.
New Orleans’ event will feature a performance of “Auld Lang Syne” by Maroon 5’s PJ Morton. According to Mayor LaToya Cantrell, the Louisiana portion of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve employs 70 local workers who’ve been out of a job since the pandemic. What a great note to end 2020 on, right?
