High School Musical’s Monique Coleman & Corbin Bleu Reunite in New Lifetime Movie ‘A Christmas Dance Reunion’

A CHRISTMAS DANCE REUNION

The holidays can sometimes bring about nostalgia, and that’s exactly what Lifetime‘s doing with their newest holiday film A Christmas Dance Reunion. Two stars from the High School Musical film franchise – Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu – are reunited in the movie, portraying childhood Christmas dance partners Lucy and Barrett.

Per Lifetime, the official movie description reads: “Successful attorney Lucy Mortimer (Monique Coleman), along with her mother Virginia (Kim Roberts) returns to the Winterleigh Resort to help celebrate the hotel’s final Christmas season. Once there, Lucy is reunited with the owner’s nephew and her childhood Christmas Dance partner, Barrett Brewster (Corbin Bleu). Though the resort has fallen on hard times and has stopped most holiday events, Lucy leads the charge in recreating the beloved Christmas traditions, including the popular Christmas Dance, to bring together new families and new hope to the resort. Now, Lucy must decide if she’s willing to take a risk on love and partner up once more with Barrett for what could be the last Christmas Dance.”

Longtime Disney fans will remember Corbin and Monique as Chad Danforth and Taylor McKessie respectively, from the High School Musical franchise. They portrayed these roles in all 3 films, and by the second movie, the beloved characters had become an item. Even though this new project isn’t HSM related, Monique and Corbin were both very excited to work together again!

Corbin took to Instagram, writing: “I’ve got an early Christmas present for you! 🎁 Coming this winter, I’ll be joining the #ItsAWonderfulLifetime lineup in #AChristmasDanceReunion with @_moniquecoleman! You are going to love this!!! 😉”

Monique echoed his sentiments, saying: “13 years ago, we may have hung up our #wildcat hats but we’re #stillinthistogether I’m SO excited for you all to meet Lucy + Barrett on December 3rd on @lifetime #achristmasdancereunion #itsawonderfullifetime.” She also shared the trailer to her Instagram account, which you can see below:

While this is their first film together since the iconic Disney movies, the pair have reunited at public events and other appearances over the years. They remain good friends, and even though their characters may have dated, they’re both happily married to other people IRL. Corbin married wife Sasha Clements in 2016; Monique married husband Walter Jordan in 2012.

Speaking of film characters dating, there may be a love interest angle for Lucy and Barrett in A Christmas Dance Reunion. Lifetime never shies away from a good love story, and old friends reconnecting over the holiday season seems like the perfect plotline. Plus, it’s sure to delight HSM fans who loved seeing their characters Taylor and Chad go from friends to dating in the Disney movies. Seems like Monique and Corbin had a blast filming this new Lifetime movie, so that chemistry will shine through onscreen once again.
