It has been revealed that after almost 7 years of marriage, Kelly Clarkson has officially filed for divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock.
While the news comes as a shock for many Clarkson fans, the timing somewhat makes sense considering the pair listed their Los Angeles home on the market for $10 million just last month.
Kelly and Brandon tied-the-knot in 2013, in Blackberry Farms, Tennessee, after dating for 10 months. And they have not only been life partners, but also business partner ever since.
But amid the divorce news, some are wondering more about Kelly Clarkson’s soon to be ex-husband? Here is everything we know about Brandon Blackstock.
1). He is Kelly Clarkson’s manager, as she is a client of Starstruck Entertainment. His father, Narvel Blackstock, was originally Kelly’s manager but Brandon took her on as a client after they got married.
2). Blackstock is a talent manager at Starstruck Entertainment (his father’s company).
3). Brandon Blackstock was the stepson of country superstar Reba McEntire. His dad Narvel Blackstock, the owner of Starstruck Entertainment, was married to Reba from 1989-2015.
4). Brandon and Kelly met while she was rehearsing with Rascal Flatts for the 2006 Country Music Awards, he was the bands manager. But Brandon was married at the time, so their love story did not begin there. It wasn’t until the two reconnected six years later after he was divorced, when she was performing at the Super Bowl, that they started dating.
5). Blackstock has 2 kids with Kelly Clarkson, River (5) and Remington (4). As well as 2 kids from his previous marriage, Savannah (17) and Seth (11).
6). He serves as the executive producer of Clarkson’s talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show.
7). In addition to Kelly Clarkson, Blackstock’s clients include Blake Shelton, Voice winner Brynn Cartelli, Maggie Rose, and more.
8). Blackstock has his pilot’s license. And he actually he bought his own plane in 2018.
9). Blake Shelton pushed him to propose to Kelly Clarkson. In a 2012 interview, Shelton revealed that he convinced Blackstock to propose. He said, “I told Brandon, ‘Man, you need to grow up and you figure out that you need to marry this girl.’”
10). He surprised Kelly Clarkson on stage in 2019 on her Meaning of Life Tour, playing his guitar as she sang “Piece By Piece”. A song written about him and Clarkson’s own father, and the differences between them both.
