Q&A WITH LANDON GORDON

What was the audition like for Secrets of Sulphur Springs?

The audition process was exciting. After I submitted a self-tape, I was called into the casting directors office for an in-person read. Next step was a producer’s session at the Disney Channel building. That day there were a bunch of actors reading for Wyatt and Zoey. I read for Wyatt and left. We were opening the door to the car when my manager called. She said, “They want you back up there, go back up there!” I read a few more times for Wyatt. Each time they released more and more actors. At the end of the evening I was the last Wyatt standing. After that, I was asked to test for the role. I was the only kid testing that day for Wyatt so I had a pretty good feeling that I had a shot at the role. The rest is history!

Do you remember the moment you found out you booked the lead?

Yes! I was in the car with my mom. We had just dropped my brother off for baseball practice and my agent and manager called and told me the news. I think my mom may have freaked out a little more than me! We went straight to Jeni’s for a celebration ice cream cone – 2 scoops!

Have you been watching the Disney Channel? If so, what’s your favorite show?

I’ve grown up with Disney Channel. I have an older brother, and a younger brother, so Disney Channel is always on in the background, even when I’m not watching it. My first favorite Disney Channel show was a DCOM, Teen Beach Movie. The first time I saw that movie I was actually on a Disney Cruise in Alaska. We sat on the pool deck and watched it under a lot of blankets because it was freezing outside! I loved that movie. That was the first time I remember thinking I wanted to be on Disney Channel someday.

You’ve worked with some big stars like Tom Cruise and George Clooney.  What was it like to work with them?

They were both so nice. I’ll admit, I didn’t really know either of them before I worked with them. George was directing the movie I was in so he was very busy, but after working together, he took the time to take a picture with me, which I thought was really cool. Tom and I worked opposite each other. He was so professional and focused. We had a great time working together but what I remember the most was his handshake. He must be the strongest guy I have ever met!

You have two brothers!  What do you guys enjoy doing together?

It’s great having two brothers because we are always interested in the same things. I play mostly with my younger brother because we are closest in age. We pretty much do everything together. My older brother is the best to go on adventures with. We like fishing and hiking and riding our bikes together.

Do you have any pets?

I have a dog! An Australian Shepherd named River. He is full of energy and always drops a ball on my lap ready to play.

You met Josh Bassett and Olivia Rodrigo, how exciting! What was that like?

That day was amazing. It was already amazing because I was at the Disney Channel building doing prep for Secrets of Sulphur Springs. But I had just finished watching High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and I’ve always been a Bizaardvark fan, so when they walked in, I was like OMG! They are so nice! They gave us advice about what to expect once the show comes out and how to stay true to ourselves.

Why should everyone tune into Secrets of Sulphur Springs

Everyone should tune in because this show will draw you in and leave you wanting more. And, the best part is, it’s great for everyone. Kids, teens, young adults, parents, grandparents – everyone can enjoy this show! This is very different for Disney Channel. Everyone should check it out and see if they can figure out the Secrets of Sulphur Springs.

A huge thank you to Landon for taking the time to chat with us! He’s certainly on his way to superstardom with this fun series! Be sure you’re following him on Instagram, and check out his new show Secrets of Sulphur Springs only on Disney Channel.
