Selena Gomez Launches Mental Health Platform Wondermind

  • by

Selena Gomez has always been an advocate for mental health. Now, she, along with her mother Mandy Teefey, and Daniella Pierson are launching a new mental health platform called Wondermind. The trio wanted to create something accessible to people within the age of social and digital media, but, it will be more than just an app. Keep reading below for more details on this important new platform, including information about the founders, their goals, and when to expect Wondermind.

What is Wondermind?

Wondermind is a mental fitness platform founded by Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey, and Daniella Pierson. The company’s goal is to create a safe space where caring for your mental health is “democratized and destigmatized,” according to Forbes. Daniella told the media outlet that using the term “mental fitness” as opposed to mental health feels “more approachable and less intimidating” and describes the platform’s philosophy of working on your mental wellbeing everyday.

It’s all about making that work accessible, easy, and entertaining. Gomez, Teefey, and Pierson know everyone heals at their own pace, and each has experienced mental struggles, so they understand the bravery it takes to ask for help.

The platform will contain content that’s guided by professionals. But, Mandy also stressed the importance of Wondermind being more than just an app. Recently, she was on Jana Kramer’s Whine Down podcast, and said that while they have technology aspects in development, she wants there to be tangible products for users too. In her opinion, having that type of connection is crucial.

Why did Selena Gomez decide to start Wondermind?

Selena teamed up with her mom Mandy and Daniella to start Wondermind out of a necessity to create a world where people feel comfortable taking care of themselves. Mental health is a huge priority in each of their lives, and they will be learning and growing alongside the community of Wondermind users.

Selena announced the news to her Instagram page, telling her 279 million followers: “Mental health is something that is very close to my heart. It is so important to have places where people can come together and understand that they’re not alone in their mental fitness journey. That’s why I’ve joined forces with @mandyteefey and @daniella_pierson to bring you @officialwondermind – Launching in 2022.”

Daniella reiterated to Forbes the importance of changing the conversation around mental health. It’s not a weakness, and they want to build an environment where people feel safe, hopeful, and excited. She hopes Wondermind can help people flip the script for themselves, and others they interact with. One goal she has is for their company to become the largest mental fitness ecosystem via production, media, and product.

More About Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey & Daniella Pierson

As we mentioned earlier, Selena Gomez has been very vocal about her own personal struggles in the mental health arena. She has openly discussed her experiences with anxiety, depression, and how her physical illness of lupus has affected her. In addition to being a co-founder of this mental fitness company, Selena is an actress (her latest show Only Murders in the Building was picked up for season 2), singer, and host of HBO Max’s hit series Selena + Chef, which was renewed for a fourth season last month.

Mandy Teefey is the mom of Selena Gomez, and managed her career under July Moon Productions until 2013. In 2014, she launched Kicked to the Curb Productions, and is the co-CEO of Wondermind. Mandy revealed to Forbes that she was properly diagnosed with ADHD after a 20-year struggle.

Daniella Pierson is the founder & CEO of The Newsette, a media company that empowers females. Selena Gomez has actually been featured within the content, and previous partners of Daniella’s company include Amazon, Saks, and Ulta Beauty. Since November, her current title is co-CEO/cofounder of Wondermind. Daniella discovered she had OCD in high school, but didn’t receive help until college, according to Forbes.

Between the trio, they span three generations, which represents the audience they’re targeting: everyone. Daniella is Gen Z, Selena is a millennial, and Mandy is Gen X.
