Roselyn Sanchez is ending her successful year on a high note. The Fantasy Island star is making television history hosting Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Puerto Rico. Roselyn will be hosting from Puerto Rico, as the city of San Juan celebrates its 500th anniversary, according to PEOPLE. While she’s there, other hosts will be counting down from around the USA, including Ciara in Los Angeles and Billy Porter in New Orleans. Ryan Seacrest will co-host with Liza Koshy in Times Square this year.
This is the first time Puerto Rico is featured in the celebration, and ABC wants to make sure the history and momentous occasion is celebrated. An official press release reads: “The special bolsters Puerto Rico’s own monumental year as the capital city of San Juan celebrates its 500th anniversary and continues its world-renowned spirited holiday season, a time of year that vividly reflects the Island’s vibrant culture, food, dance, and music through local festivals and celebrations.”
Puerto Rican native Daddy Yankee is also set to perform, and it’s the first time the telecast will be in Spanish. Roselyn even shared a behind the scenes look at prepping for the New Year’s Eve special via her Instagram. You can see it below.
The hosting gig came after news that her show Fantasy Island was renewed for a second season by FOX. The hit series follows Sanchez’s Elena Roarke as she runs a luxe island getaway where visitor’s wildest dreams come true. Guest stars from season 1 included Melrose Place alums Josie Bissett, Daphne Zuniga, and Laura Leighton; Dave and Odette Annable, and yes, even Roselyn’s real-life husband Eric Winter made an appearance. All the aforementioned stars were even featured on Roselyn and Eric’s podcast He Said, Ella Dijo, where they shared experiences working together on set.
If any of those accomplishments weren’t impressive enough, Fantasy Island aired a holiday special on December 23, titled “Welcome to the Snow Globe.” According to ET Canada, Elena’s ex-fiancé (Eddie Cahill) appeared in the episode as a “Mr. Right” for the newest visitor (Lindsey Kraft), whose wish was a Hallmark-style holiday romance. But, Elena had sparks flying with pilot Javier (John Gabriel Rodriguez), so she gained some much needed closure. The two-hour special was originally scheduled for December 21, but was pushed in lieu of NFL scheduling conflicts.

Speaking of which, Roselyn’s portion from Puerto Rico will air at 11 PM ET; Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will begin programming at 8 PM ET Dec. 31 on ABC.
