Hallmark Channel may be finished with its Countdown to Christmas movie marathon, but they are ringing in 2021 with new films too! One such premiere is that of A New Year’s Resolution, which fits in perfectly with the network’s “New Year, New Movies” event. A New Year’s Resolution follows Milwaukee producer Kelly Leone (Aimee Teegarden) as she sticks to her New Year’s resolution of saying “yes” to every single social event for the month. When she agrees to participate in her morning show’s on-air results, she finds herself doing activities she’d normally decline. However, when she runs into a businessman Tom Malone (Michael Rady) along the way, she may just find love in the process too.
Aimee Teegarden is probably best known for portraying Julie Taylor in the NBC series Friday Night Lights. Since then, she’s held main roles on shows like the CW’s Starcrossed and ABC’s Notorious. A New Year’s Resolution is Aimee’s second Hallmark Channel original movie — her first was 2018’s Once Upon a Christmas Miracle.

Michael Rady is perhaps best known for his role as Nicholas Keynes in season 2 of NBC’s Timeless. He’s recurred on other shows like Jane the Virgin, Melrose Place, and Greek. Fans of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies will know him as Kostas, Lena’s (Alexis Bledel) boyfriend.
Ahead of the premiere, Hallmark Channel has released not only a trailer, but a sneak peek of A New Year’s Resolution. You can check it out below:
The film was shot all the way back in fall 2019 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Aimee posted a behind the scenes shot from that time on her Instagram page. She tagged Cocoa Beans Gluten Free Bake Shop, which is a bakery in Winnipeg, so perhaps it was a backdrop or set.
You can also see a behind the scenes post on Aimee’s hair, makeup, and Great Gatsby-like outfit, which will be featured in the film. Since her character has to attend every single social event, maybe this one is a themed celebration of some sort!
