Candace Cameron Bure continues her work with Great American Family Channel (GAC) this holiday season. She will star in as well as serve as executive producer on the new movie, My Christmas Hero. It’s part of the roster of upcoming holiday films for 2023, joining originals like Christmas by Chance. Everything to know so far, including the character Candace will play, is below.
Candace Cameron Bure portrays US Army reservist and orthopedic physician, Nicole Ramsey. Her character is headstrong but service-oriented and very dedicated to her duties.
Bure is looking forward to shining the spotlight on the heroic work of veterans. “We have a talented cast and crew and are thrilled to bring it to our Great American Family audience,” she told the network in a statement. It’s also worth noting Candace’s Candy Rock Entertainment will produce the film in addition to her starring role.
Candace took to Instagram to share the news with her followers, writing: “Very excited to present another Great American Christmas film this year with @candyrock.entertainment, and so proud of this movie and all it represents! ‘My Christmas Hero’ will premiere later this year on @gactv 🇺🇸✨.”
The news of her new starring role comes after her first film with GAC (A Christmas…Present) took home two wins from the MovieGuide Awards in February. As you can tell from the IG post below, Candace was very touched to have won these awards.
According to GAC, “Nicole Ramsey (Candace Cameron Bure) is dedicated to serving military service members and their families at the Joint Military Base in Lacey, Washington, home of I Corps and the 62nd Airlift Wing. This Christmas, with the help of many dedicated heroes, Dr. Ramsey is on a mission to honor a special fallen soldier and bring much needed healing to her own family.”
Mick McKay is producing the film with Martin Wood directing an original screenplay by Jim Head. Executive producing alongside Bure are Ford Englerth, Jeffery Brooks, Jim Head, Gerald Webb, Eric Jarboe, Holly Hines, Martin Wood, and Trevor McWhinney.
My Christmas Hero will premiere as part of GAC’s annual Great American Christmas franchise. While there’s no premiere date yet, the franchise returns in October 2023, with holiday movies running throughout the end of the year.
