$100,000 Pyramid is all new tonight, with actors and comedians pairing up to win that coveted prize. In this episode, Ali Wentworth faces off with Sara Haines and Kal Penn goes up against Michelle Buteau. We’ve got more details for you on the episode, the contestants, and even some photos below. Ali Wentworth is best known for her various acting roles and comedy routines. Her debut was on FOX’s sketch series In Living Color, but she’s also known for Nightcap, which she created and starred in. She’s married to George Stephanopoulos, who was Clinton’s Presidential Adviser, and is currently a TV host/correspondent.
Sara Haines is known for hosting ABC’s The View and GSN’s The Chase. You may have also seen her co-hosting GMA Day with Michael Strahan. She has three kids (two sons, one daughter) with her husband, attorney Max Shifrin. She even tweeted that she’ll “be watching” because she loves the show. Plus, Michael Strahan is the host of $100,000 Pyramid, so they’re reuniting.
The goal of the game is to get to the Winners Circle, so each team must answer as many questions correctly as they can in order to move up. It’s tricky because they have to describe the person/place/thing to their teammate without giving it away. Each celebrity is paired with a different contestant during the episode. For Ali and Sara, they are: Greg Padden and Laura O’Dea.
Kal Penn is an actor known for his roles in House, Designated Survivor, and the Harold & Kumar films. He too has a White House connection. In 2009, he served under former President Barack Obama. He stayed for 2 years as the Associate Director for Public Engagement.
Michelle Buteau is a comedian who began performing for 5 years before getting her big break on Comedy Central. She’s hosted podcasts Late Night Whenever! and Adulting. Currently, she hosts the Netflix series The Circle.
As with Ali Wentworth and Sara Haines, Michelle and Kal are also paired with different players. Jean Weaver and Jack Washington are the two lucky ones to join their team this week. You can see them, plus the rest of the contestants, in the promotional photos below.
