Ever since ‘Fuller House‘ has rebooted to Netflix, we can’t get enough of Candace Cameron’s adorable fashions and bouncy hairstyle as DJ Tanner. One of the most asked questions Candace gets from viewers and fans is how to achieve her signature blonde ponytail.
In Candace’s book, Staying Stylish she breaks down all the steps that you’d need to sport this look yourself!
“First I have to style my hair in loose beachy waves,” she says. Why? “It gives texture and body that will make your ponytail pop.”
STEP 1: Start by blow-drying your hair. Candace’s Tip: Make sure the dryer blows your hair in the opposite direction of how it grows naturally to add some volume.
STEP 2: She uses a graduated curling wand for waves. “I curl the hair from my ears forward away from my face, then curl the rest in alternating directions to give my hair that true beachy effect,” Candace said.
STEP 3: Use a texturizing spray (Oribe, Amazon.com). Candace breaks up the waves with her fingers and then adds the product in for maximum volume and a tousled texture.
STEP 4: Candace finishes the look with Kerastase Laque Couture Medium Hold Hairspray. “I love how touchable my hair feels,” Candace says. What is Candace’s favorite drugstore hairspray? L’Oreal’s Elnett Satin Strong Hold. And can we add – it smells amazing! It’s like perfume for your hair.
STEP 5: Section your hair horizontally across the top of your head from ear to ear.
STEP 6: Tease the back portion of your hair at the crown and comb it so it creates a bump for height.
STEP 7: Pull your hair up and secure it with an elastic band. For top level volume at your crown, pull the elastic out about an inch.
STEP 8: Pull a piece of hair out to wrap it around the hairband so it doesn’t show anymore. Get a bobby pin and secure it.
Now you just achieved the signature DJ Tanner Ponytail!
