One of the original ‘American Idol‘ judges, Paula Abdul, will be returning to the show tonight, Monday April 12, 2021.
Current American Idol judge Luke Bryan will miss Monday’s live show after he was tested positive for COVID-19. Who better to fill in for him than one of the original AI judges of course? This will mark Abdul’s first appearance on the show since it has been airing on ABC.

This isn’t the first time Paula Abdul is back in the judge’s seat. She has made appearances and been a judge on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance and The Masked Singer.
Paula will take Luke’s seat alongside Katy Perry and Lionel Richie for Monday night’s first live show on April 12th. This episode will take it from the Top 16 contestants to the Top 12. The top 10 will be chosen by the home audience while two contestants will be saved by the judges.
Tune into American Idol on ABC Monday at 8pm EST.
