Get excited, Baysiders: Mark-Paul Gosselaar aka: Zack Morris from the original Saved by the Bell series has signed a deal with NBC to reprise his iconic role. This is the second casting since September 2019 when Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez signed on to the reboot.
So, what’s going on with Mark-Paul’s Reprisal?
Mark-Paul has signed a deal with NBC to do a few episodes of the Saved by the Bell reboot as his original character of Zack Morris. In the revival, Zack is actually the governor of California — if you can believe it. As for the reason behind only three episodes? Mark-Paul’s commitment as a series regular on the ABC show ‘mixed-ish‘ limits his availability. But hey, three episodes is better than no Zack at all, right?
What About His Castmates?
Now, you’re probably wondering about Zack Morris’ other half: Kelly Kapowski, who was portrayed by Tiffani Thiessen. NBC is also in talks with Tiffani, but there’s no official word on her status yet. To quote Mark-Paul from the Wrap article, which was posted to the show’s Instagram: “Everyone can sleep well at night…it looks like you will have us in some capacity.“
The good news is fans will definitely get to see more of A.C Slater and Jessie Spano — Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, respectively — as the actors have already been filming for the show! Check out a fun behind the scenes video below:
We also have a couple behind the scenes photos from the reboot too, which you can see below:

While there’s no exact release date as of yet, NBC did announce that their streaming service, Peacock (which is where the SBTB reboot will be released to) will be available in April — so maybe we can expect this revival later this year.
