Mario Lopez dropped by The Kelly Clarkson Show recently to chat with Kelly Clarkson about the Saved by the Bell reboot, how juggling his hosting gigs has been going, and more. He even brought his daughter Gia along to teach some TikTok dance moves to he and Kelly! Keep reading below for more details.
Any Saved by the Bell scoop?
Mario told Kelly that after all this time, it’s been crazy to think about his role as AC Slater on Saved by the Bell. They were “actual teenagers playing teenagers” which he said is ironically a rarity for shows or films. Kelly agreed, saying that movies like Grease had stars that were playing high schoolers, but were mid-20’s, early 30’s in real life!
He said that “they’ve done a really good job blending the nostalgia with a 2020 updated version of the show” and that the kids on the series are super talented. Slater plays a gym teacher at Bayside High while Jessie Spano is a counselor at the school and her son Jamie attends as well. It’ll be available for streaming on Peacock starting Nov. 25.
Any other details to share?
Lopez also said that he didn’t really have to stop filming with Access Hollywood, or for his radio show On with Mario Lopez because he was able to film some in his backyard. He then went back to the studio for the radio, and the rest has since carried on in a fairly regular schedule. He’s been busy, between those hosting gigs, the Saved by the Bell reboot, and of course, being a husband and father.
He, his wife Courtney, and their kids, Gia (10), Dominic (7), and Santino (1), have all been passing the time with one fun thing: TikTok. Mario even invited his daughter Gia, on to The Kelly Clarkson Show to teach he and Kelly some moves to Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar.”
That’s not the first time Mario’s been showing off his dance skills though – he’s been in a ton of other TikToks with his whole family! You can check out one of their more recent ones below:
Be sure you’re following Mario on Instagram, and his wife Courtney to see more family videos. You can catch Mario on the Saved by the Bell reboot starting Nov. 25 only on NBC’s Peacock streaming service.
