Last year’s performance did not go exactly as planned. The backing track failed to play correctly which led Mariah to stop singing and call for help about the technical difficulties before walking off. Unfortunately the video went viral and the mistake continued to replay.
Mariah Carey and Dick Clark Productions released a statement to People Magazine. This is what they said, “We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018. See you in Times Square!”
Mariah will be fresh off of her Christmas tour. She visited cities such as New York, Seattle, Paris, London, Las Vegas, and Manchester.
Her adventures have been documented on Instagram via her profile and boyfriend, Bryan Tanaka’s. While out in New York, the happy couple picked up a Christmas tree with Mariah’s adorable twins.
Bryan Tanaka posted a performance shot from the Christmas Tour of the duo on stage. Bryan captioned it, “NYC ✔️Paris ✔️Manchester ✔️London ✔️Definitely the best way to start the holiday season. #HappyHolidays #MuchLove ???”
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest airs on Dec. 31 on ABC at 8:00pm EST.
