There is a first for everything. Mariah Carey is singing the theme song for a brand new ABC show!
ABC just announced they will premiere a spin-off show to the popular ‘black-ish’ and ‘grown-ish.’ In September, get ready for ‘mixed-ish.’
The powerhouse singer not only recorded but she wrote the new track called “In the Mix.” Carey was so happy to be part of this project as she is a huge fan of the series.
The Wrap reported that Carey said, “As a fan of Kenya Barris’ megahit shows, ‘black-ish’ and ‘grown-ish,’ I was inspired to connect with Kenya to find a way we could work together.”
After receiving the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards in May 2019, Carey gave a very powerful speech about growing up bi-racial in the industry. She was an inspiration to everyone all over the world. Watch the speech below:
What is ‘mixed-ish‘ About?
‘mixed-ish’ will star ‘Saved by the Bell‘ alum Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tika Sumpter. The new ABC series will follow Rainbow Johnson as she remembers growing up in a mixed-race family in the suburbs during the 1980’s.
“As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be a part of ‘mixed-ish,’ Carey said.
