What Was the Original ‘Mad About You‘ Plot?
In case you aren’t familiar with the show, it was about a married couple Paul and Jamie Buchman from New York, played by Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser. Paul was a filmmaker and Jamie worked as a public relations specialist. Come along with them as they navigate through the ups and downs of married life. In addition to Jamie and Paul, the show also featured their dog Murray, best friend Frank, sister Lisa and cousin Ira.
Friends’ star, Lisa Kudrow was often seen in Mad About You in a recurring role.
The series aired on NBC for seven seasons and finished in 1999.
When E! News asked Paul Reiser about a possible reboot, he said “I’ve thought about. I always said no to a reunion or a reboot and now that everybody keeps asking, it’s possible…I always said if there’s a reason for it, if there’s a story to tell.”
TVLine reported if the new series is created, we would come in to Paul and Jamie’s life where they are dealing with empty nest syndrome. Their TV daughter, Mabel would be off to college.
Since the ending of “Mad About You” Helen Hunt has been mostly working behind the camera on shows such as “American Housewife” and “This is Us” starring Justin Hartley.

If a “Mad About You” reboot happens, it will be following in the footsteps of NBC’s “Will and Grace,” and Netflix’s “Fuller House” which have been extremely successful.
