Kelly Clarkson will take the stage not only as host of the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, but as a performer. The Voice coach will show off her own vocal chords with another stunning music display. Get more details on how she will open the show on Oct. 14 below.
What will Kelly Clarkson be singing on the BBMAs?
Kelly Clarkson will be opening the 2020 BBMAs with a cover of the Whitney Houston song “Higher Love.” The iconic song was one of many for the late Houston, and Clarkson will no doubt give it the tribute it deserves. Joining her on stage for the performance will be a cappella group Pentatonix; according to PEOPLE, the “Queen of Percussion” Sheila E. will be in the opening showcase too.
This isn’t the first time Kelly has performed at the Billboard Music Awards. She’s performed the last two years: in 2018 she sang “Whole Lotta Woman,” and in 2019 she did an amazing medley. In addition to performing in those two shows, Kelly hosted as well.
She posted a fun Instagram, captioning it “third time’s the charm” and throwing it back to her previous 2 years. You can see it below:
Kelly’s amazing voice isn’t the only thing she’s got going for her lately. Her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show has been in full swing, having guests like Kristin Cavallari and Sabrina Carpenter on to discuss a variety of things.
The “Kellyoke” (her version of karaoke) covers have been a big hit amongst her fans too. Oh yeah, and the new season of her NBC show The Voice comes back on Oct. 19. Safe to say Kelly’s future is looking bright.
You can see Kelly Clarkson host and perform at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards live on Oct. 14 at 8/7 c on NBC. Be sure you’re following her on Instagram to see if she posts any shots from the show!
