*Summer Feature Review* A New Kind of Springhill Suites

At the very end of March we took a trip to Florida on a mission, to find out what Orlando (the home of Mickey Mouse) has to offer in the way of a summer getaway for our amazing readers. We left home (New York) in the rain but happily arrived to the sunshine in Florida. There’s a reason it’s called the “Sunshine State”! There were those pretty palm trees I had been missing. On to our first hotel stay, at the “new Springhill Suites Seaworld.” Off we drove down “International Drive” which for those who know Orlando is likened to “Main Street.” There is so much going on there on this one long street!

The Springhill Suites at Seaworld is located right across the street from Seaworld itself. The manager of the property told us many really like to watch the fireworks display Seaworld puts on. Those staying at the hotel can see it right from the pool area. So let’s break it down on some of the most important parts of any hotel:
The Pool / Fitness / Recreation: This pool area is not a “typical one.” It’s muchSpringhill_pool more vacation-like with a special pool bar that serves Pizza Hut amongst other fun foods and drinks. The pool is larger than the usual and has a more kid-related side then a side for the adult swimmers which is a bit deeper. The entrance into the pool isn’t just a stairway but more of a “beach entrance” where the ground just goes right into the pool on a slope. The pool curves and has some little alcoves which are nice.

The recreation room is typical to most hotels with some standard equipment, treadmills, elipticals, etc. For this fitness conscious girl, I always tend to take a look at the fitness offerings at any hotel I stay at.

The Lobby: It’s the first room you notice when you enter any hotel, the lobby. This springhill_lobbyone is not the usual look for a Springhill Suites. There is a blue and green color combination throughout the entire hotel. In the center of the lobby you will find a small lounge encircled by a transparent curtain, a Starbucks bar, eating area, and computers. You can almost feel like you’re walking into a city hotel.

The Rooms: We were in a room with two double beds. The beautiful perk of Springhill Suites is that they all are suites so you have the bedroom and a separate sitting room with a kitchenette. With the hotel rooms in the Springhill Suites Seaworld, you feel as though you are in a spa. From the colors to the sliding doors for the restrooms and the general calming environment of the rooms it certainly stands out. The rooms are comfortable, have enough room for about four to five people to move around easily, a beautiful large flat screen television, and nice workstation. (which helped us!)

Pros: This hotel has a number of ammenities with a small convenience type store, john recreation facilities, comfortable and easygoing environment. They even offer an expanded hot breakfast in the mornings complimentary. When asked why someone should stay at the Springhill Suites, John, the hotel manager said, “this hotel offers style and space at an affordable price.”

Cons: We didn’t have enough time at this hotel to enjoy everything! They didn’t offer any shuttle service to the airport.

Price: Affordable rates at an average of $99 per night.
