When we got the notice of the Disney Channel Original Movie, Teen Beach Movie, we knew we had to cover this for Feeling the Vibe. We sent Disney Channel fan and our teen contributor, Amanda to this private screening in New York City with only a few select viewers. Starring Ross Lynch from Austin and Ally and newcomer, Maia Mitchell, this new age “Beach Blanket” movie was filmed in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. We will give you a slight background on the movie before we share Amanda’s thoughts and observations.
“Teen Beach Movie” stars Brady and McKenzie, high school friends as they enjoy surfing and watching their favorite musical film, Wet Side Story set in the 1960’s. Brady and McKenzie share the desire to be in their favorite movie and to live in that era. An accident occurs and spins Brady and McKenzie into the movie where some unexpected situations happen. So let’s take it to Amanda.
“This was my first experience at a private movie screening and I enjoyed the small, intimate setting. The only downfall was that I couldn’t have drinks/food in the room. I like popcorn at all of my movies!! My expectations going into this screening, I was thinking it would be similar to High School Musical (which I loved). After watching, I felt extremely happy and enjoyed all the scenes and didn’t want it to end! It’s a wonderfully uplifting family movie. My favorite characters in this movie are Brady and McKenzie who happens to be the main characters. I thought they were fun, adorable and did a perfect performance of portraying high school sweethearts. There were many songs in this movie I enjoyed. My favorite two songs are “Surf Crazy” and “Can’t Stop Singing.” I couldn’t stop singing as I left! I would most definitely recommend “Teen Beach Movie” to all of my friends.”
Amanda’s mother also accompanied her to this private screening and had something to add as an adult viewer. “As a parent, I’m always concerned about adult language with adult themes and tend to get real uncomfortable while watching some movies. This movie was clean, pure, fun, and entertaining, she says.”
This adorable movie’s soundtrack (available on July 16th) will be featuring ten original songs composed of a variety of surf rock, motown R&B, and pop. Teen Beach Movie which runs a little over two hours, will premiere on the Disney Channel on Friday, July 19, 2013. Don’t miss it!
