Ever
fantasize about having a celebrity take you to your prom?
Could you even imagine something so special? That
fantasy became a reality for one lucky Ohio girl.
She had an incredible night to remember as popstar Chris
Trousdale was her Valentine’s Day Prom
Date.
Come along with FTV as we take you
all back to that February 11th
night.....
Sixteen year old Yvette, a
sophomore at Stow High School in Ohio is a huge Chris Trousdale fan and
supporter. Imagine the joy she experienced when she found out
that Chris would accompany her as her date to the Stow High School
Valentine’s Day Dance!
On a cold
mid February night,
Chris arrived at her home dressed in true New York style wearing a
“black shirt and jeans with a red tie for
Valentine’s Day.” Yvette was wearing a
beautiful red sleeveless dress. The couple looked gorgeous
together! After taking a number of pictures(check them out in
the gallery!) Chris then put a beautiful corsage on her wrist and they
were ready for their dream date.
The
group
including, Louie (Chris’s manager), Chris, Yvette, and her
friends Brittni and Jim (on a blind date!) set forth
for their night “Under the Stars” as the dance was
so perfectly titled. It also had a coincidental
resemblance to the name of Debbie’s prom, “Starry
Starry Night” in “The Biggest Fan.”
Those of you who have seen
"The Biggest Fan," and of course then fantasized about having Chris Trousdale
wander into your room one night, you would definitely have felt this
was the remake of that movie. “It was just like
"The Biggest Fan." It looked like it too, it was
crazy!” says Chris. In a way Yvette shares a
similarity with Kailah Amariah’s character,
“Debbie,” “Since about 7th grade, girls at
my school called me a liar about knowing/meeting
Chris…”
Yet "The Biggest Fan Take 2" was about to happen, “ so when
they saw Chris with me at the dance, their faces were absolutely
priceless!” What a victory!
Of course before the dance they had
to grab something to eat, so seafood fan Chris was able to pick out a
restaurant with his favorite foods after the group decided on making it
a "seafood night." It seemed as
though some of the other students were in awe that Chris was actually
there with them. Yvette tells us, “Chris is to my
left, tearing apart crab legs (mind you, butter and what not is flying
everywhere haha) and to the right and front of me- my friends sit there
in silence looking at each other- Chris and I couldn’t help
but laugh looking at them.”
The stunning group arrived at the
dance met by many stares and inquisitive looks of admiration.
“There were a lot of kids, very typical high
school, freshmen through seniors, very much like it is on TV.
It all looked very
cool,” says
Chris. The photographer invited Chris and Yvette to take a
special professional prom photo that they will always have as a memento
of this fantastic night.
It was time to get out on the
dance
floor, pretty much a second home to Chris. The DJ was spinning some
great “radio hits” and had the students on their
feet dancing all night. Of course every great party has the
well-known dance songs like “Cotton Eyed Joe” and
“The Electric Slide,” which the crowd just
loved. In true Chris fashion with his awesome dance
abilities, he became the leader in “The Electric
Slide.” “I led it! I was somehow right in
the front.” Yet, even Chris didn’t know
one of the dances! “Then this girl came over to me
and said, ‘I’m a big fan of yours. Would
you like me to teach you Cotton Eyed Joe?’ She
taught me all the moves. It was so adorable,” says
Chris. Chris was pumped and ready for some more dance
music. He jokes, “I was waiting for the Macarena to
come on, but no Macarena! Now that one I knew!”
They
also had fun with
some Whitney
Houston
music. Yvette recalls, “One of
the funniest memories I have of the dance is when Chris and I were
dancing to “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney
Houston. It’s an 80’s kind of song so
it’s hard to dance to in a way and Chris was trying to spin
me around and I would spin the opposite way. No matter what
direction he would twist his hand I kept spinning the opposite way and
he would just laugh at me and scream ‘WHAT ARE YOU
DOING!?’ That was too funny.” The night
continued on with some beautiful ballads that the crowd slow danced
to. Here’s a picture of Chris and Yvette
sharing a special slow dance. (below)
Louie
and the security guards closely watched the two of them. Chris says,
“Louie was dressed in all black and looked like a
bodyguard.” At one point in the night, some drama did ensue
and the attentive security guards quickly diverted it.
As the night went on, more students
took notice to the couple. So many people instantly realized
they were taking part in a virtual remake of "The Biggest
Fan." “The girls would find a way to run by me,
they were kind of scared that I actually paid attention because they
didn’t expect me to acknowledge them,” Chris tells
us. Yvette let’s us in on some after –
dance feedback from the other students, “When I got to school
on Monday, everyone told me they went home after the dance to
“Google” Chris and Dream Street. A lot of students
now are interested and have asked me about having Chris perform at our
school, which is pretty cool!”
So what is it like to have Chris
Trousdale as your date? Yvette
gives us the scoop, “Chris was a great date! We had a blast
taking pictures and goofing off most of the time. He was extremely
attentive, always asking me if I wanted or needed something. Other
girls would ask Chris for a dance and he reminded them he was my date,
of course followed by a wink and a smile, to leave the girls breathless
haha. He never left my side!” Girls,
don’t melt now!
The night was filled with wonderful
music, great energy, fun and sweet memories. Around 11pm, the
fantasy night came to a close with one last song. It was
truly a picture
perfect night.
Want an extra inside story? Chris
and Louie were due to fly home to New York the next day, but then
Mother Nature stepped in. As if
this dream couldn’t get any better, Yvette, Chris, and Louie
were able to spend an extra day together! All
the airports in and around New York were closed due to the record
– setting blizzard of 2006, which left over two feet of snow
in Central Park, so they weren’t able to fly home until the
next day.
We
asked both Chris and Yvette to give us an overall look at their entire
experience. Yvette said,
“It was amazing! Spending time with Chris doing nothing out
of the usual was incredible! All my dreams came true in one
weekend!” Chris tells us,
“It was such a cool experience, just how I pictured it.
It was great to go back in time
and be
in high school again for a little while.
Yvette is a wonderful girl and her family is so nice, we appreciate
their hospitality so much. ”
*Louie
and Chris would like to
thank the principal Ms. Cynthia Finley,
staff and security at Stow High School for all their help.
It was much appreciated.*
